Dear Member,
Please find attached a copy of the minutes of yesterday's committee meeting.
This was the last Committee meeting before we gear ourselves up to renew our efforts to keep you all happy and interested before the Annual General Meeting in July.
Our primary efforts have always been to maintain the Club Facilities in top condition and to provide opportunities for Squash, Racketball, fitness etc at an economic rate and to reinvest any surplus in the Club.
During the pandemic, this philosophy has been somewhat dented and bruised.
Unfortunately, since returning to near normal squash etc on 17th May there has been an unacceptable rise in the number of speculative bookings, 27 Late Cancellations and 61 No Shows.
This also frustrates players who find it difficult to get court time for internal league games.
Agreed that some of the No Shows can be attributed to those members who simply forget to CHECK IN on the "MyCourts" system.
However, these numbers represent a significant potential loss of income which limits the Club's ability to maintain and improve the facilities to such an extent that a future Committee may well be obliged to closely monitor the practice and seriously consider charging a half court fee for late cancellations not rebooked by others and for no shows.
Alternative measure could possibly include 'naming and shaming' players and introducing restrictions on the numbers of bookings each day or even temporary suspension of booking privileges for serious offenders.
