Internal Leagues
Dear Committee Member,
Because of the importance of the topic, I have been asked to share the following email with the whole Committee.
Hi All,
I am very concerned that we only have a short window of opportunity to come up with a satisfactory solution on how to operate the Internal Leagues.
It is very sad that Cyril cannot carry on to ‘mastermind’ the internal leagues; it takes him hours to do it in a short space of time each month. He will not be able to produce the October Leagues. Having done the leagues for 40 years he deserves to be ‘released’ from the job.
1. We could, of course, issue an email appeal to the wider membership for a volunteer – that is unlikely to be successful.
2. It is vitally important to find someone to operate the Leagues in order to maintain the number of players in the Leagues and, indeed, attempt to increase the numbers.
3. If we do not, the income from lights could well drop dramatically to a level which may not produce enough income to maintain our current levels of expenditure. This could possibly lead to a substantial increase in the level of Light Fees.
4. The “MyCourts” system can be used for all members to enter their match scores on the system [once they could be persuaded to do so]
5. I don’t know if the system itself can automatically sort out movement up and down between leagues. Failing that possibility someone would need to oversee that.
6. Is that something we can check with Miles Montelius.
